AdaptAbility Community Newsletter Issue 5

Earlier this June, the Adaptability Partners Network recently met to share updates, discuss partnership opportunities, and plan future initiatives that support accessible recreation and community participation.

Our Day in the Organization series continues to showcase the incredible work of local organizations and the programs they offer. Upcoming features will highlight Hutton House and Rise Above Adaptive Climbing, providing an inside look at their facilities, services, and participant experiences.

Try Sailing!

The Fanshawe Yacht Club and Sailing School recently acquired 4

sailboats, specifically designed for sailors with a wide array of

physical disabilities. It uses a joystick steering system, and the

seating is designed to provide forward-facing seating.


When: June 16, 2026 and June 18, 2026

Where: Fanshawe Yacht Club location in the Fanshawe Conservation Area

What: We have three Hansa 2.3 sailboats, and one Hansa 303 sailboat.

Tanya Crowe – WILD Fund Recipient

Wheelchair Rugby Canada has announced the recipients of its 2026–2027 Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Fund, a program launched in 2025 to increase women’s representation in leadership roles across the sport. The initiative provides annual funding to support development in areas such as coaching, classification, governance, and administration, helping to strengthen the overall structure of wheelchair rugby in Canada.

SUMMER TRY IT SESSIONS!

London Blizzard Sledge Hockey is offering individuals the chance to try a new sport. The Blizzard provides junior, open, and intermediate programs for ages 6 and up. The program is open to all individuals, regardless of ability.
