With the 2026 Commonwealth Games underway in Glasgow, Scotland, until Aug. 2, more than 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories are competing across a 10-sport program.

Canada has sent a team of more than 150 athletes across nine sports and has already featured prominently in the medal standings, winning 27 medals, including nine gold.

The Commonwealth Games remain the only major international multi-sport event where para sport medals are fully integrated into the main sporting program, not counted separately.

The Fanshawe Yacht Club and Sailing School recently acquired 4

sailboats, specifically designed for sailors with a wide array of

physical disabilities. It uses a joystick steering system, and the

seating is designed to provide forward-facing seating.

Wheelchair Rugby Canada has announced the recipients of its 2026–2027 Women in Leadership Development (WILD) Fund, a program launched in 2025 to increase women’s representation in leadership roles across the sport. The initiative provides annual funding to support development in areas such as coaching, classification, governance, and administration, helping to strengthen the overall structure of wheelchair rugby in Canada.
